Nous révélons les plans de Jonathan Monaghan pour sculpter dans le marbre son interprétation surréaliste d'Apollo Belvedere. Rendue grandeur nature et avec une peau lisse semblable à du cuir, cette interprétation d'un buste antique emblématique évoque les notions de confinement par la technologie et le matérialisme. L'œuvre est une étude de contrastes; entre le doux et le dur, le virtuel et le physique, le passé et le futur. En utilisant un processus de fraisage robotique, cette sculpture sera taillée dans un bloc solide de marbre de Carrare. Une traduction virtuelle de la sculpture est présentée ici.

Here we reveal Jonathan Monaghan’s plans to carve his surreal interpretation of the Apollo Belvedere sculpture from antiquity out of marble. Rendered life-sized and with a luxurious leather-like skin, this rendition of an iconic bust conjures notions of confinement by technology and materialism. The work is a study in contrasts; between the soft and hard, the virtual and physical, and the past and future. Using a CNC robotic milling process, this sculpture will be carved out of a solid block of Carrara marble. A virtual translation of the sculpture is presented here.
